In order to meet the increased requirement of Agriculture Education, Research and Extension in different agro-climatic zones, following 03 agriculture universities and 01  Deemed agriculture university are established under the department:-

• N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad
• C.S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur
• Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Modipuram, Meerut
• Allahabd Agriculture Institute – Deemed University, Allahabad

Narendra Dev University of Agriculture and Technology, Faizabad was established in 1975, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur was established in March, 1975 and Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel University of Agriculture and Technology, Meerut was established in October, 2000 under the Uttar Pradesh Krishi Evam Prodyogik Adhiniyam 1958.  Allahabad Agriculture Institute was given the status of Deemed University by Government of India vide Circular No. F-9, Dated 15-3-2000 under Article -3 of University Grant Commission Act, 1956.

            In addition to the above 03 agriculture universities and 01 Deemed agriculture university, the department has U.P. Council of Agricultural Research under its control for technical coordination and review of work carried out by state agriculture universities and giving suggestions for their improvement.

            Besides above, a new agriculture university Manyavar Shri Kanshiram Ji University of Agriculture and Technology at Banda district is being established to facilitate the development of agriculture in Bundelkhand region.
